Unplugged……

unpluggedYesterday I just had to stop and unplug. No blog, twitter, facebook, ebay, text, email, phone – nothing. It’s something I use to do every Saturday but haven’t in almost 3 months. For me, to stay connected to God, I have to disconnect from things of this world. I have to spend time with just me and God.

See, it’s not that any of those things I fast from our bad, yet I know for me it’s so easy to get caught up in them. Always trying to be a part of everything that going on and filling my plate with way more than God want s me to have on it.

It wasn’t that I didn’t read the Word or pray. I was doing that daily without fail. Yet, I was failing to spend true intimate time with God. It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday commotion of things and just kind of go thru the motion of our relationship with God. Just like the cashier who says have a nice day to everyone. It’s almost void of any true meaning because they say it day in and day out.

John 15:1-8 says “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

We have to stay connected to the vine to produce fruit, we have to allow God to prune away the things of our life we don’t need. We have to have a real, genuine, personal relationship with God and not just a drive by have a nice day relationship.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
