Teacher Appreciation Week!

teachersThis week is teacher appreciation week and that means a lot to me. First my mom is teacher and I love my mom a lot and over the years have watched her develop, love, care and teach thousands of Children. Not only that but some of my close friends are teachers take Jessica Yates one of the most amazing people I know her heart for children is so BIG. She reminds me of some of the teachers I had growing up who truly cared and spoke truth into the lives of the students they come in contact with. I can say I have been blessed to have wonderful teachers for both of my children. So take the time out this week and say thank you to a teacher. I spend a lot of times in schools and I can tell you its not a easy job. Think back to the teacher that impacted your life and if you are a teacher I just want to say thank you for all that you do.

Thanks for this post. It took me back to some of my favorite teachers. All of these teacher are no longer in my geographical area, but I will look them up. Moreover, I will thank God for them today.

1st Grade – Mrs. April – She helped me buckle down and understand Math

4th Grade – Ms. Little (I had a huge crush on her. Besides that, she taught me to love reading and learning)

5th and 6th Grade – Ms. Tannif – She was firm and did not play. Learned discipline from her.

7th and 8th – Mr. Norton – He taught me how to write and love history.

10th grade – Mr. DeValle – He encouraged me to keep a journal and to write everyday.

Freshman – Sister Werner – She was a tough nun at Bishop College, a historically black college in Dallas, Texas. She is partially responsible for me teaching English as an adjunct professor of English and writing as much as I write. She stayed on my butt and did not let me get away with flimsy excuses.

These are some teachers that have impacted my life.
