Pack Rats!

Have you ever seen a news special about pack rats or compulsive hoarders? The pictures and videos they show of that stuff is insane. The amounts of stuff (junk) some people will keep for know reason other than they just can’t let it go. There are stories of people who have died in there homes but have so much stuff it takes days to find them. I once saw a story about a man who had a maze of garbage in his house. To me that just sounds Crazy. The other day (not wanting to turn into a pack rat) I was going thru the stuff in my garage that I still had not unpacked from 6 months ago. I only pulled out a couple of boxes that I needed like pictures. After going thru it all there was a lot I didn’t need. I haven’t even seen it in 6 months or longer. I don’t even remember what most of it is. Do I really need the box my Nintendo Wii came in or every copy of Muscle and Fitness Magazine going back 5 years and there is stuff my wife has from I don’t know where. Just the thought of talking about getting rid of it brings up a little tension between the two of us(I’m all for tossing it, my wife….. not so much).Seems likes there is always tension when it comes to letting things go. Like between you and God he has big plans for you and you just want to hold on to something’s of the past. You’re just not quite ready to let go yet. Luke 9:57-62 Lets us know we can’t do both. We must be willing to leave it all behind. Now ask yourself what you are holding on to.
