Wow 1 year later and as look back if you told me I would be a youth pastor, I would have said Nah not me. I’m pretty sure I did tell a few people that. So how did I get here you ask? I’m not really sure but it was all God so I’ll tell you how it happen. Like I said yesterday, I quit my job and 5 days into my two weeks’ notice my boss came in and told that he had my replacement , thanks for all my hard work I would be missed. This was a shock to me but hey I was still getting paid. So I left went home to change and went to the church to start volunteering earlier than normal. (I had been volunteering in the youth about 2 years now)
On this particular day there was an organization that starts school clubs at lunches or before school and tells students about the Gospel. They partner with local churches to have a place to help the students connect more when outside of school. I happened to be able to do this now, as I have no job. So from that day every week school was in I was there, in schools talking to students. At the time I never thought hey one day God is going to use this in the future.
Now at the church I volunteer at their youth admin was going to be out for about 4 weeks for surgery. I told them that I would help out as much as I could.(again I had no job) So she taught all I could learn in 3 days before her surgery. So now I going to schools and volunteering as a youth admin and this whole time growing in areas I lacked skills but not thinking about it just doing it to serve others. This all took place within a week of me quitting my job.
So you ask is that how you became a youth pastor? Did she not come back and they gave you the job because you did a great job. The answer to that would be no. See my good friend came back better than ever (I could never do anything as great as she does it) and soon school let out, so there was no more school visits. But aren’t you a youth pastor you say. Yes I am a youth pastor now for the church I volunteered at and I spend the majority of my time in schools about 20+ lunches a week. So as I look back I never would have thought that. But that just how God works.
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.
Stay tuned for more everyday this week.
