A Year Later……..
Posted by Vince in Anniversary on November 1st, 2009
Wow I can’t believe it’s been a year since I started working at Lifechurch.tv. It’s been an amazing year I feel beyond blessed to be able to work at such an amazing place, with so many great people. I never thought I would actually have the opportunity to be pastor or even exactly what God had planned for my life. I am thankful for the opportunity God has provided me. He has blessed me with chance to grow and learn from some truly amazing people. God has used me in ways I never thought possible.
Ephesians 2:10 for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Comes to mind when I think about me working at lifechurch.tv. I remember when people would ask me what my letters where off the Meyers Briggs test and I would say “H-O-O-D”. Makes me laugh when I think about my first months at LC.tv.
It’s been a great year and all the praise goes to God. I look forward to another year of what God has planned for me.

In Matthew 6:25-32 it tells us God is our provider that he will meet our needs. I sometimes wonder if people including myself believe that. I’m not sure if I did but now I do. See when I quit my job and started my own business, the money I use to make was not following in like it use to I had a few clients but not what I needed. You say why didn’t you get another job, oh I thought about many a times even prayed “God if you want to get I another job I will”. Yet I felt in my heart he didn’t want me to and I had to not just believe but trust in God to provide for the needs of me and my family. God came thru in so many ways he provide for every need we had and then some. Yeah we cut back on things like cable and shopping 2 things I use to be addicted to. See sometimes we put things before God and don’t even realize it maybe for you its money, TV, shopping that’s what it was for me. See with those distraction in my life gone I spent more time seeking God and not worrying about what I was going to watch on TV tonight or was the DVR set or Did I have a new pair of kicks(shoes) to rock this weekend. I was seeking God not the things of this world.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

Foolish things!

Wow 1 year later and as look back if you told me I would be a youth pastor, I would have said Nah not me. I’m pretty sure I did tell a few people that. So how did I get here you ask? I’m not really sure but it was all God so I’ll tell you how it happen. Like I said yesterday, I quit my job and 5 days into my two weeks’ notice my boss came in and told that he had my replacement , thanks for all my hard work I would be missed. This was a shock to me but hey I was still getting paid. So I left went home to change and went to the church to start volunteering earlier than normal. (I had been volunteering in the youth about 2 years now)
On this particular day there was an organization that starts school clubs at lunches or before school and tells students about the Gospel. They partner with local churches to have a place to help the students connect more when outside of school. I happened to be able to do this now, as I have no job. So from that day every week school was in I was there, in schools talking to students. At the time I never thought hey one day God is going to use this in the future.
Now at the church I volunteer at their youth admin was going to be out for about 4 weeks for surgery. I told them that I would help out as much as I could.(again I had no job) So she taught all I could learn in 3 days before her surgery. So now I going to schools and volunteering as a youth admin and this whole time growing in areas I lacked skills but not thinking about it just doing it to serve others. This all took place within a week of me quitting my job.
So you ask is that how you became a youth pastor? Did she not come back and they gave you the job because you did a great job. The answer to that would be no. See my good friend came back better than ever (I could never do anything as great as she does it) and soon school let out, so there was no more school visits. But aren’t you a youth pastor you say. Yes I am a youth pastor now for the church I volunteered at and I spend the majority of my time in schools about 20+ lunches a week. So as I look back I never would have thought that. But that just how God works.
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.
Stay tuned for more everyday this week.

Anniversary

This time 1 year ago I quit my Job. I job I enjoyed but I know God had something different for me and with no saving, being married less than 5 months, 2 kids and no business plan. I followed what God had laid on my heart to start my own business
. The road God had me on for the next year is one that with out him I would have never made it. See the thing is God had a plan for my life, he had it map out I just had to not just believe but trust in him and fall back in to his arms and let him do with me what he does best. So this being kind of an anniversary of that I thought I would share bits and piece of that over the next week with you. In the hope that it is an encouragement to you.
