Vince Parker

Growing up I was never a big reader. To be honest if I didn’t have to read I didn’t. Yet, over the past 2 years I’ve read at least 2 to 3 books a month. Recently I read “Transforming Church in Rural America” by Shannon O’Dell and I have to say  it is definitely one of the most challenging books I have ever read.

You might be asking yourself, “What does ‘rural’ have to do with me? I don’t live in a rural area.” Well, neither do I. Let me just say, Shannon’s book is more than that. See, though that might be his focus, his content speaks to chasing your God sized dream  not letting anything stop you from completeing the vision God has for you. The book is full of great idea wrapped in biblical truths so whether you’re a church planter, senior pastor, or new to following Jesus,  “Transforming Church in Rural America” will have something for you. It will challenge and encourage you no matter where you live or where you are at in your walk with Christ.

Don’t just take my word for it see what others are saying about it.

So they’re all dead yep all of them, what am I going to do now. My BlackBerry, my IPod touch, my PSP and my laptop they’re all dead. Dead and I don’t have tell you how it happen. The batteries died, the lost there charge. Pretty simple fix I just plug them in so they can charge.

Things need to be connected to the source to work whether the connection is wired like electrical out let for a power or wireless like a wifi signal for internet it’s still connected somehow. The same is true with us we have to be connected to Christ to produce John 15:5 tells us this.

I pray you stay connected so you want lose your charge and if you are unplugged now I pray your are reconnected to the source.

I thought this week we would start of with a new video by Fedel. The title says it all the video is crazy sick. Enjoy!

popcorn Popcorn everyone loves popcorn; at least I would assume everyone loves popcorn. You have movie popcorn, kettle corn, caramel popcorn, cheese popcorn I could go on forever with the different flavors of popcorn. The sound of popping, the smell I’m getting hungry just thinking about it right now. Let us pause for a popcorn break…………….

Ok I’m back now, sorry about that had to pause for a popcorn break (kettle corn if you are wondering which flavor). The thing about popcorn is that when it cooking or popping whatever you call it. It never all pops, if you try to get all the kernels to pop you end burning some.

It’s kind of the same thing in your ministry not everything is going to work out the way you intend it. But we learn and continue to forge ahead and not be discouraged by those that don’t pop but be encouraged by those that do POP!

palm-iphone-storm1So the iphone 3g(s) is coming out on Friday the Palm Pre has been out for a week. Not to mention the new BlackBerry Tour and Storm 2 later this year. There is a lot of buzz about who has the best operating system, the best web browser or who has the best apps. Tons of advertising has been put into these phones trying to prove to you which one is the best. They are all kinds of reviews, blogs and forums where people love one device and hate the other. I find some of them very funny I have even seen where people take the time to make their own personal commercial about it. Yet they all have something in common they’re…………………… phones, mobile devices if you prefer but never the less they all do the same thing call, text, email or surf the web you name it no matter which you choose. Phones have changed so much over the years but they still serve there same intended purpose…………… to communicate with someone that not in the exact same place as you.

The same can be said for the church, yes there are tons to choose from out there and yes some have changed a lot over the years. Yet the church is there to still there to serve the same original intended purpose. So let’s not bicker or fuss over what is different but rejoice as the body of Christ.

Oh yeah in case you are wondering what device I like ……………… BlackBerry Tour 9630!(comes out this summer cant wait)
