Are You A Trader?
Are you a trader? Are you willing to trade your pursuit of the American dream for the pursuit of God’s dream? See, if we watch TV, read a book, or listen to the radio you will hear some form of the American dream. If we could just make this amount of money, buy a certain size house, drive that car, and have 5 weeks of vacation we would have made it. That’s what the world would love for us to believe. Are we going to be led by what the world wants for us or by the Spirit of God and what he would have us do?
We are so focused on our own personal standard of living that we forget others are barely living. We are so busy saving up for our own emergency fund that we overlook the emergency all over the world. We are so busy working on the kingdom of me that we ignore the Kingdom of God. We are so busy worrying about being saved from something that we forget that we have been saved to something. We are so busy trying to make sure we don’t do anything wrong that we aren’t trying to do anything right. We are spending all are time money and energy trying to make our lives comfortable that we forget that Jesus is our comforter. We are either having a positive or negative effect on our environment there is no neutral.
We need to trade in the pursuit of the American dream for a world that desperately needs Christ. This is something we shouldn’t wait to do but start doing RIGHT NOW!
I would love to tell you I’m great at this and that this was my idea, but this is what God has placed on the heart of Brian Mosely and his team at RightNow.org last week. Francis Chan, Matt Chandler, Kay Warren, Alan Daneilson and many others were all speaker on this and they beautiful conveyed this point at the RightNow ‘09 conference at Irving Bible Church.
